The 1 is a local service on the IRT Broadway-Seventh Avenue Line, part of the original IRT subway of 1904, the first in New York. It runs from South Ferry at the tip of Manhattan up the West Side along Broadway to Van Cortlandt Park-242nd Street in the Bronx, and it stops at every station on the way.
