Line 4 is the sky-blue line. It opened in two stages in 1985, from Sanggye to Hansung University in April and on to Sadang in October. Through-running onto Korail's Gwacheon and Ansan lines later carried it to Oido on the west coast, so a single line now runs from Jinjeop in the north to Oido, passing Seoul Station and Myeongdong on the way. HelloSubway counts 51 stations.

In the north the line goes Jinjeop, Onam, Byeollaebyeolgaram, Bulamsan, Sanggye, Nowon, Changdong, Ssangmun, Suyu, Mia, Miasageori, Gireum, Seongshin Women's University, Hansung University and Hyehwa. The city centre follows: Dongdaemun, Dongdaemun History & Culture Park, Chungmuro, Myeongdong, Hoehyeon, Seoul Station, Sookmyung Women's University and Samgakji. South of the Han it serves Sinyongsan, Ichon, Dongjak, Isu, Sadang and Namtaeryeong, then Seonbawi, Racecourse Park, Seoul Grand Park, Gwacheon and Government Complex-Gwacheon. The last stretch is Indeogwon, Pyeongchon, Beomgye, Geumjeong, Sanbon, Surisan, Daeyami, Banwol, Sangnoksu, Handaeap, Jungang, Gojan, Choji, Ansan, Singiloncheon, Jeongwang and Oido.
