The branches you don't type
The A has two other ends. One branch leaves at Rockaway Boulevard for Ozone Park-Lefferts Boulevard, and another leaves Broad Channel for Rockaway Park-Beach 116th Street. Our map draws both dotted, and the game types only the Far Rockaway route. Howard Beach-JFK Airport is where you change for the AirTrain to the airport.
How long the A really is
At more than 31 miles from Inwood to Far Rockaway, the A is the longest single line in the New York subway. It runs express in Manhattan and Brooklyn and local in Queens. Trains to Far Rockaway go by way of Howard Beach-JFK Airport at all times, and a handful of rush-hour trips run to and from Beach 116th Street in Rockaway Park. If you are going to the airport, read the destination on the front of the train, because the Lefferts Boulevard trains do not stop at Howard Beach.
