The N starts at Astoria-Ditmars Boulevard in Queens and runs along the BMT Astoria Line through Queensboro Plaza, where it meets the 7. It enters Manhattan through the 60th Street tunnel, runs down the BMT Broadway Line, crosses the Manhattan Bridge into Brooklyn on the Fourth Avenue Line and ends at Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue on the Sea Beach Line. The service opened in 1915 as the Sea Beach Express and took the letter N in 1961.
