Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line: all 25 stations from Ogikubo to Ikebukuro

Tokyo's second subway line curves from Ogikubo through Shinjuku, Ginza and Tokyo Station to Ikebukuro. 25 stations, 266 letters in romaji.

The Marunouchi Line is the red line. It opened on January 20, 1954 between Ikebukuro and Ochanomizu, the second subway line in Tokyo after the Ginza Line, and was extended in stages until it reached Ogikubo in 1962. It makes a long U through the centre, passing under Shinjuku, Ginza and Tokyo Station.

The stations

From Ogikubo the line runs Minami-asagaya, Shin-koenji, Higashi-koenji, Shin-nakano, Nakano-sakaue, Nishi-shinjuku, Shinjuku, Shinjuku-sanchome, Shinjuku-gyoenmae, Yotsuya-sanchome, Yotsuya, Akasaka-mitsuke, Kokkai-gijidomae, Kasumigaseki, Ginza, Tokyo, Otemachi, Awajicho, Ochanomizu, Hongo-sanchome, Korakuen, Myogadani, Shin-otsuka and Ikebukuro.

The Honancho branch

A short branch leaves the main line at Nakano-sakaue and runs to Honancho through Nakano-shimbashi and Nakano-fujimicho. It was finished in 1962. Our map draws it dotted, and the game types the main line.

Thirteen stations are shared with other lines in the game, including Shinjuku, Yotsuya, Akasaka-mitsuke, Kasumigaseki, Ginza, Tokyo, Otemachi and Ikebukuro. The line takes 266 letters in romaji, about 11 per station. Shinjuku-sanchome and Shinjuku-gyoenmae are the longest at 16 letters, and Tokyo and Ginza the shortest at five.
