The Oedo Line is run by the Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau of Transportation (Toei). It opened in stages, Hikarigaoka to Nerima first on December 10, 1991, and was completed on December 12, 2000. It is shaped like a sideways figure 6: a spur between Hikarigaoka and Tochomae, plus a loop through central Tokyo. It is not a true loop line, though. Trains from Hikarigaoka go once round the loop and reverse at Tochomae. It runs deeper underground than any other Tokyo subway line.
In the game you type Tochomae once, and the ride ends at Shinjuku after the loop.
The stations
Starting at Hikarigaoka, the Oedo Line runs through Nerima-kasugacho, Toshimaen, Nerima, Shin-egota, Ochiai-minami-nagasaki, Nakai, Higashi-nakano, Nakano-sakaue, Nishi-shinjuku-gochome, Tochomae, Shinjuku-nishiguchi, Higashi-shinjuku, Wakamatsu-kawada, Ushigome-yanagicho, Ushigome-kagurazaka, Iidabashi, Kasuga and Hongo-sanchome.
The rest of the route is Ueno-okachimachi, Shin-okachimachi, Kuramae, Ryogoku, Morishita, Kiyosumi-shirakawa, Monzen-nakacho, Tsukishima, Kachidoki, Tsukijishijo, Shiodome, Daimon, Akabanebashi, Azabu-juban, Roppongi, Aoyama-itchome, Kokuritsu-kyogijo, Yoyogi and Shinjuku.

The deepest station in Tokyo
The line is 40.7 kilometres long and has 38 stations, the most of any Tokyo subway line. Platform 1 at Roppongi is 42 metres underground, on the seventh basement level, which makes it the deepest station of the Tokyo subway. At the other end of the scale, Hikarigaoka is only 11.9 metres below ground, the closest to the surface of all the Oedo Line stations.
Changing trains, and typing it
Of the 38 stations, 16 are shared with other lines in the game. The whole line takes 440 letters in romaji, about 11.6 per station. Ochiai-minami-nagasaki is the longest at 20, tied with Nishi-shinjuku-gochome, and Nakai is the shortest at 5. Other loops are compared in lines that loop. Ride the Oedo Line.
