The Yurakucho Line opened on October 30, 1974 between Ikebukuro and Ginza-itchome. It was extended to Shintomicho in 1980, to Chikatetsu-narimasu in 1983, to Wakoshi in 1987 and to Shin-kiba on June 8, 1988, which completed today's 24-station route. It shares its tracks with the Fukutoshin Line between Wakoshi and Ikebukuro, and runs through onto the Tobu Tojo Line at Wakoshi and the Seibu Yurakucho Line at Kotake-mukaihara.

Leaving Wakoshi, the Yurakucho Line stops at Chikatetsu-narimasu, Chikatetsu-akatsuka, Heiwadai, Hikawadai, Kotake-mukaihara, Senkawa, Kanamecho, Ikebukuro, Higashi-ikebukuro, Gokokuji, Edogawabashi, Iidabashi, Ichigaya, Kojimachi, Nagatacho, Sakuradamon, Yurakucho, Ginza-itchome, Shintomicho, Tsukishima, Toyosu, Tatsumi and Shin-kiba.
