Tokyo Station (M17) is a stop on the Marunouchi Line and the JR Yamanote Line. The Shinkansen and most other JR lines are there as well, but they are not part of the game.
The Imperial Palace: leave on the Marunouchi side
The Imperial Household Agency's access page gives times from three starting points. From Tokyo Station's Marunouchi Central Exit it is a 15-minute walk to the Ote-mon Gate and the Kikyo-mon Gate and 20 minutes to the palace grounds. From Nijubashimae Station on the Chiyoda Line, Exit 6, it is 10 minutes to either gate and 15 minutes to the grounds. From Otemachi Station, Exit C13a is five minutes to the Ote-mon Gate, and Exit D2 on the Mita Line is 10 minutes to the Kikyo-mon Gate and 15 to the grounds.
Palace tours
JNTO says the Imperial Palace moved to Tokyo in 1868, that tours run daily at 10 am and 1:30 pm and take about an hour, and that they are closed on Sundays, Mondays and public holidays. The innermost grounds are normally closed except for the tours and special days such as the January 2 New Year greeting. Tour groups meet at the Kikyo-mon Gate, which JNTO puts at a ten-minute walk from Nijubashimae or Otemachi.
The station building
The red-brick Marunouchi building is the station's best-known face, and it is on the same side as the palace-bound exits.

Typing it
Tokyo is five letters (東京). On the Marunouchi Line it comes between Ginza and Otemachi.
Walking times and exit names here are the ones published by the official tourism pages and agencies listed below. Big Tokyo stations are rebuilt all the time and exits move or close, so follow the signs in the station as well.
